Mastering the Grill
There is just something about the taste of food that has been grilled that is just awesome and delicious. However, to some people, the grill can be a scary and terrifying piece of equipment. However, this doesn’t have to be the case. Here are some tips for mastering the grill.
Types of Grills
So, the first thing you need to know is what type of grilll you want to use. Charcoal Grills provide food with the best flavor. These grills use charcoal briquettes and is more time consuming than other grill types. Charcoal burns at higher temps than say gas grills, which lets you sear meat with ease. Gas grills are designed for beginner grillers because they are simple and easy to use. These grills use natural gas from a line or propane gas from a tank. Gas grills are popular because you can easily control the temperature at any point, allowing for meat to be cooked just the way you like it.
Grilling Meat
Grilling meats goes way beyond hamburgers and hot dogs. You can select various types and cuts of meat from steak to chicken to pork.
Season all your meats with a dry rub about an hour before grilling to allow the marinate to set into the meat.
If you are adding sauce to your meat, do so about 15 minutes before it finishes cooking so that the sugars in the sauce won’t burn the exterior of the meat.
One way you can tell if your meat is ready to be turned over is when the meat’s juices are flowing from the middle of the meat.
After you remove the meat from the grill, allow to set for 20 minutes prior to cutting. This allows time for the flavors to set in.
Grilling Fish
One of the best ways to grill fish is to stuff it with lemon slices and thyme springs before grilling. This provides the fish with tons of delicious flavor.
You want to choose fish that won’t fall apart when you grill it. Thick fish like salmon or tuna are ideal for grilling.
When you are grilling fish, you may choose to use fish racks. Fish racks are designed to ensure the fish won’t fall apart and they make flipping the fish much easier.
