Steps for Dicing the Tomato like a Pro
1. Remove the Stem– The first step is to remove the stem. This is fairly simple to do, all you need to do is to grab it in your fingers and twist it off. Cut out the little circle in which the tomato first starts to grow with a small paring knife.
2. Use a Cutting Board– Place the washed tomato on a cutting board.
3. Cut It in Half Lengthwise– Next, you will be cutting the tomato lengthwise. You will start your cutting position where the tomato first starts to grow.
4. Place It Face Down– Place the tomato with the cut side facing down onto the cutting board. Take the knife and cut straight down thru the tomato cutting lengthwise as you go. Keep your hand on it so it will stay all together in a group.
6. Cut Across from Side to Side– Now that you have rotated the tomato, you are going to be cutting perpendicular or from side to side. By keeping the cutting evenly spaced, you will have diced tomato pieces of equal size.
7. Dice Size– For smaller diced tomato pieces, keep your cuts spaced closer together. For larger diced tomato pieces, space the cuts further apart.
